Pebble Hills University Celebrates Charity Chima’s Achievement in Public Health
Pebble Hills University is proud to announce that Charity Chima has successfully completed her Bachelor of Science in Public Health. Her thesis, titled Knowledge and Attitude of Women in the Child-Bearing Age Towards Cervical Cancer Screening: A Case Study of the Tambalale Community in Lilongwe, highlights critical issues surrounding cervical cancer awareness and screening in Malawi.
Charity’s research, conducted in July 2022, utilized both qualitative and quantitative approaches to assess the knowledge and attitudes of women aged 15-49 in the Tambalale community. Despite a general awareness of cervical cancer screening services, her findings revealed that many women held negative attitudes towards these services, underscoring the urgent need for improved education and sensitization efforts.
In her dedication, Charity expressed gratitude to her family for their unwavering support throughout her academic journey, as well as to her supervisor, Mr. Owen Gangata, for his guidance and encouragement. Her work not only contributes to the academic community but also serves as a vital resource for public health policymakers aiming to enhance cervical cancer screening programs in Malawi.
The university community extends its heartfelt congratulations to Charity Chima on this remarkable achievement and looks forward to her continued contributions to public health. Her work is a testament to the importance of research in addressing health disparities and improving health outcomes in vulnerable populations.
