Pebble Hills University Awards Distinguished Professorship in Public Administration
Pebble Hills University (PHU) is proud to announce that Dr. Hiew Boon Thong has been awarded the prestigious title of Distinguished Professor in Public Administration. This honor recognizes his exceptional contributions to the field and his unwavering commitment to academic excellence and community service.
Dr. Hiew Boon Thong has an extensive background, having served over 36 years in the Royal Malaysian Police force, where he achieved the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police. His exemplary service has been acknowledged through numerous awards, including Service Medals and the Excellent Service Award in 2008. Following his retirement, Dr. Hiew transitioned into leadership roles in the private sector, serving as Managing Director for two local oil palm companies.
In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Hiew has been actively involved in various religious and social initiatives for over 40 years. He has played a pivotal role in organizing significant Buddhist activities and has founded multiple Buddhist associations, enhancing community engagement and support.
Academically, Dr. Hiew holds two doctorates—one in Business Administration and another in Buddhist Studies—along with two Master’s degrees. He is currently pursuing a third Doctorate in Business Administration and a third Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies, showcasing his commitment to lifelong learning.
The awarding of the Distinguished Professorship in Public Administration not only highlights Dr. Hiew’s professional and academic accomplishments but also reflects PHU’s dedication to recognizing individuals who demonstrate outstanding leadership and a passion for public service.
