Engr. James Akanbi
Engr. James Akanbi is a pioneering engineer, industrial innovator, and founder of De Koolar Nigeria Limited, one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous manufacturers of cold storage and HVAC systems. With over 30 years of experience, he has transformed De Koolar from a small air‑conditioning service established in 1995 into a major force in cold‑chain technology, serving critical sectors such as agriculture, food processing, healthcare, and commercial industries. Under his leadership, the company expanded rapidly, providing HVAC support for MTN and NITEL base stations across 19 northern states between 2000 and 2005. In 2005, he revolutionized the local market by introducing Nigeria‑tailored ice block machines and cold rooms, later advancing to inverter‑compatible systems and OEM‑backed manufacturing. Today, De Koolar’s installations serve major clients including ExxonMobil, Nigeria Brewery, Domino’s Pizza, and Animal Care. Engr. Akanbi holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rufus Giwa Polytechnic and professional certifications in Six Sigma, ISO 9001:2015 QMS, and Project Management. He is a Fellow of OSHA UK, NITAD, and IBMN, and a member of the Nigerian Institution of Mechanical Engineers. His legacy is defined by innovation, resilience, and a commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s industrial capacity—qualities that make him a distinguished recipient of the Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa).
