Engr. Alvin R. Harilla has over 20 years of experience in various fields, including Program & Strategy Management, Corporate & Business Planning, Sales & Marketing, Service Level Management, Enterprise Risk Management & Sustainability Development, Operations Management, Project Management, Quality Management, Capacity and Cost Management, Training, Human Resource Development, Engineering, and Optimization. He has expertise in telecommunications, IT-enabled services, service utilities and academe.
He is currently teaching as a Graduate Professor at the University of the Philippines – Manila, where he teaches a range of subjects and is an advocate of youth economic empowerment, gender equality, andinclusion. Engr. Harilla has also worked as Vice President for Risk & Sustainability at Vivant Corporation, Assistant Vice President for Human Resources at Fly Ace Corporation, Assistant Vice President and Head of Strategy Management and Corporate Planning at NTT Ltd., managing Marketing Management, Quality Management Systems, and Customer Experience Management, including Service Desk Management and Program Management. He also worked as Head of Radio Network Engineering, Broadband Service Level Management, New Technologies and Emerging Devices, Capacity Management and Business Intelligence, Service Level Management and Quality Assurance, and Program & Strategy Management for Consumer Enterprise Business Groups at Globe Telecom, and Senior Engineer in RF Optimization and Site Acquisition at Smart Communications.
He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (Silver Medalist & Most Outstanding Scholar) and holds a license as an Electronics and Communication Engineer (2001) and Professional Electronics and Communications Engineer (2012), a master’s degree in Management major in Business Management from the University of the Philippines – Manila with a GWA of 1.05 out of 1.0 and a consistent University Scholar, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree in Business Administration at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila.
As part of his advocacy, he aims to educate his students about sustainable development and to identify solutions for sustainability gaps in business operations. He has participated in green initiatives such as tree planting activities and creating eco-friendly products out of sustainable materials. He also started a VolunTourism program to clean coastal areas and has personally advocated for Seven Ways To Heal The Planet, including supporting local businesses and recycling consciously. He is also active in his community, serving in various roles in their church and organizing fundraising projects for victims of natural calamities. He participates in Fun Runs to support various causes and has won various competitions in badminton and bowling. In terms of economics, Engr. Harilla provides free training and consulting services to small and medium companies to help them grow and create more jobs. He also manages his own businesses using sustainability efforts such as waste management and emission reduction. He has spoken at various local and international events and has partnerships with governments and academic institutions to share knowledge and innovation.
